Notice is hereby given by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) that Eco Plastic Products of Delaware, Inc. has applied for a permit to operate a recycling facility located at 18 Germay Drive in Wilmington. The facility proposes to team with schools, libraries, and other similar community organizations to collect plastic bags and bottles, which will be processed to produce plastic lumber and a variety of goods constructed of plastic lumber, such as park benches, picnic tables, and parking stops. The proposed recycling facility has requested to accept up to one (1) ton of plastic wastes per week and to store up to one (1) ton of plastic waste feedstocks at the referenced location.
The application and associated documents are available for review during business hours at DNREC’s Compliance and Permitting Section office at 89 Kings Highway in Dover and at DNREC’s Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances office at 391 Lukens Drive in New Castle. A public hearing on the above permit application will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC receives a meritorious request for such a hearing within fifteen (15) days from the date of this notice, ending November 5, 2019. A request for a hearing shall be in writing and shall state the nature of the issues to be raised at the hearing. It must also show a familiarity with the application and a reasoned statement of the activity’s probable impact.
