The City of Dover offers grants to support geothermal, solar water heating, and wind turbine renewable energy projects. Only customers who receive an electric bill directly from the City of Dover are eligible for this program.
Due to limited funding, municipal customers applying for the Municipal Green Energy Program will be placed in queue for payment by the Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation (DEMEC). Approved grants will be paid by municipalities as funds are available. Applicants should inquire with DEMEC regarding grant payment timelines and program funding prior to requesting a grant.
Residential customers applying for a grant must first complete a free City of Dover Public Utilities Residential Utility Service Audit. To schedule an audit, call 302.736.7070. A copy of the energy audit report must be submitted with the Green Energy Program grant application in order to receive final grant approval.
Non-residential customers applying for a grant must have an energy audit completed by a prequalified commercial auditor. A copy of the energy audit report must be submitted with the Green Energy Program grant application in order to receive final grant approval.
Please contact the City of Dover at 302-736-7070 with any questions about the energy audit requirements.
Submit completed applications to DNREC_GreenEnergyProgram@delaware.gov or mail applications to the Green Energy Program, Division of Climate, Coastal and Energy, 100 West Water Street, Suite 5A, Dover DE 19904.
For questions about the grant payment queue, please contact Scott Lynch (DEMEC) at 302-653-2733.
