Meet Me at the Marsh: Atlantic Sturgeon

Date and Time:
Friday, September 25, 2020
2:00 pm

Location:

, Delaware
Details:

Join the Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve for an online chat with a biologist from Delaware Fish and Wildlife about their work with Atlantic Sturgeon.

DNREC Fisheries staff attempt to collect Atlantic Sturgeon two to three times a week from the beginning of October through the end of December. This allows DNREC to create estimates of the abundance of young Atlantic Sturgeon and to track spawning success. Every sturgeon captured gets an individual identification tag. This allows them to monitor fish being caught multiple times and to analyze growth. The data are used as the basis of population estimates.

This event is part of a series of presentations and discussions called “Meet me at the Marsh.” Each will feature different scientists, organizations, educators and authors.
