The DNREC Division of Fish & Wildlife Youth Fishing Tournament introduces the state’s young people to the sport of fishing, along with the catch-and-release approach to conservation.

The tournament is open to youths ages 4 through 15. An adult must accompany youths under age 12 and contestants must bring their own fishing equipment. Prizes will be awarded at 1:30 p.m. in three age groups: 4 through 7 years old, 8 through 11, and 12 through 15. Winners receive prizes as well as trophies, and all registered youth in attendance will receive participation prizes.

The 2018 Youth Fishing Tournament winners will be presented with their trophies at the DNREC Awards Ceremony on Governors Day at the 2018 Delaware State Fair in Harrington.

The tournament is sponsored by the Delaware Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police. It is free and open to the public.

Since the first tournament, the event has grown to upwards of more than 200 contestants participating in each of Delaware’s three counties.
