Join staff from DNREC and the Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs (DHCA) for a free guided boat trip on the St. Jones River, near Dover.

Summer is a great time to get outside and on the water. Enjoy a scenic ride down the historic St. Jones River with staff from DNREC’s Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve (DNERR) and the DHCA’s John Dickinson Plantation.

Historically, the St. Jones River was a major mode of transportation into the city of Dover. While the river has changed over the years, both naturally and by the actions of humans, it remains an important feature of the area.

On a trip from upriver to the it’s mouth on the Delaware Bay, passengers will see the plants and animals of the river as well as scientific management in practice.

The boat trip is free and appropriate for ages 8 and up. It will last approximately two hours. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.

Boat trips are tide-dependent and will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
