Learn fly-fishing from local experts in this free, two part fly-fishing class.

The DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife offers free fly-fishing lessons for adults at the Aquatic Resources Education Center in Smyrna.

This is a two-part class, taught by members of the White Clay Fly Fishers Club. Participants should plan on attending both days:

  • Sept. 24 — Introduction to fly-fishing equipment and techniques, casting practice
  • Oct. 1 — Casting practice and fly fishing on a freshwater pond (Oct. 1)

Participants should bring their own fly rod, if they have one. There will be loaner equipment available, for free, for those who don’t have their own.

The class is free, but pre-registration is required. To register, email your name and the number of people in your group, to Pearl Franklin.
