The Division of Fish and Wildlife offers a free, online version of the mandatory turkey hunting course in place of live offerings of the course during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. This course will be available until May 14, 2021.

Resident and non-resident hunters age 13 and older must have a valid Delaware Hunting License and pass a turkey hunting course approved by the DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife before they can legally hunt turkeys in Delaware.
Hunters 13 and older born after Jan. 1, 1967 must have completed an approved basic hunter education safety course and have a course card/hunter safety number.
If you don’t already have one, create your free account on the DNREC ePermitting system.
First, watch the full course video. The Turkey Hunting Course course video runs just under two hours.
Second, complete the online test, which includes 20 questions. Your test will be reviewed within 24 hours of completion or on the next business day. If you pass, you will get a confirmation email when the course is added to your profile in the DNREC ePermitting system.
You will need to reprint your Delaware hunting license, if you have already purchased one, so that it shows you have completed the mandatory turkey hunting course.
Hunters that have already successfully completed the course will no longer need to carry a card as proof of completion as long as their hunting license indicates they have completed the course.
More information on turkey hunting is available from the Wildlife Section office at 302-739-9912.
