DNREC Public Hearings

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) has the authority to adopt, amend, modify or repeal regulations to achieve greater protection of the environment and human health. DNREC also manages a wide variety of permitting programs, covering issues related to air quality, waste and hazardous substances, water quality, water supply, wetlands and subaqueous lands, shoreline protection, sediment and stormwater, and industry in the coastal zone.

Notice: Due to the current State of Emergency, all DNREC public hearings will be virtual hearings until further notice.

For regulatory matters, public hearings are required. For some permitting processes, public hearing may be required. All DNREC public hearings concerning regulatory and permitting matters can be found on this page, as well as on the Delaware Public Meeting Calendar, along with additional information and documents.

The public is welcome and encouraged to participate in both the regulatory and permitting processes. The public may offer written comments for the record during the public comment period for each hearing, generally from the date of public notice through at least 15 days following the hearing.

Comments may be submitted through a comment form link on the hearing page, via email to DNRECHearingComments@delaware.gov, or via the US postal service at the address indicated on the hearing page and/or the public notice. Written comments to DNREC may not be submitted using social media platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, or text messaging.

After close of the comment period, the Secretary of DNREC will take into consideration all relevant information and make a decision.
