Amended Final Plan of Remedial Action for NVF-Yorklyn Operable Unit #3 (DE-0071)

Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances

Published: April 3, 2022

The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the NVF-Yorklyn Site Operable Unit #3 located in Yorklyn. The Site has been used historically for paper making, paper vulcanization (with zinc chloride) and for associated zinc reclamation. The Site requires the following: maintaining or improving the existing soil cap placed over impacted soils on the site, an Environmental Covenant restricting land disturbing activities; restriction of groundwater use; and compliance with a Contaminated Material Management Plan and Long-Term Stewardship Plan. The Site is proposed to be redeveloped for mixed residential/commercial and recreational purposes. The Final Plan is being amended to account for a proposed change in land use from commercial only to mixed residential/commercial and recreational use.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Amended Proposed Plan for the NVF Yorklyn Operable Unit #3 Site on March 9, 2022. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Amended Proposed Plan. Details of the Amended Final Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov
