Federal Consistency Letter

A Federal Consistency Determination has been submitted to the Delaware Coastal Management Program for the following: NMFS Amendment 23 to the Northeast Multispecies FMP (2022.0013)

The National Marine Fisheries Service proposes to amend the Northeast Multispecies Fishery Management Plan to improve the reliability and accountability of catch reporting in the commercial groundfish fishery to ensure there is a precise and accurate representation of catch (landings and discards). The purpose of this action is to adjust the existing industry-funded monitoring program to improve accounting and accuracy of collected catch data. Accurate catch data are necessary to ensure that catch limits are set at levels that prevent overfishing and to determine when catch limits are exceeded.

Comments concerning this Federal Consistency Determination will be accepted for 20 days from the date of this notice. Comments may be sent to: Delaware Coastal Programs, Ms. Kimberly Cole, Administrator, 100 W. Water Street, Suite 7B, Dover, DE, 19904, or electronically to DNREC_DCP_PublicComment@delaware.gov.
