Final Plan of Remedial Action for 1145 Savannah Road Site (DE-1751)

Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances

Published: Jan. 9, 2022

The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the 1145 Savannah Road Site (DE- 1751) located at 1145 Savannah Road in Lewes, Delaware. Historically, the Site operated as a fueling station until the 1990s, with four underground storage tanks (USTs) reported as being removed from the Site in 1993. Four aboveground petroleum storage tanks were historically present at the Site and removed sometime between 2002 and 2007.

The Site will be subject to the following remedial actions: development and compliance with a Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP); development and implementation of a Long-Term Stewardship (LTS) Plan including groundwater monitoring; and recording of an Environmental Covenant restricting groundwater withdrawal, restricting excavation greater than 2 feet, and requiring compliance with the CMMP and LTS Plan.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for the 1145 Savannah Road Site on December 15, 2021. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan.

Details of the Final Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov/Detail/FacilityDetail.aspx?id=10764785&piid=615532
