Final Plan of Remedial Action for 2301 North Market Street Site (DE-1721)

Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances

Published: Jan. 23, 2022

The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the 2301 North Market Street Site (DE-1721) located at 2301 North Market Street in Wilmington, Delaware. The Site is improved with one unoccupied 1-story garage building. Historically, the Site was utilized by a cleaning business (the type of cleaning was unclear) through much of the 1950s; and some point in the early 1960s the Site was occupied by an auto sales business. Auto sales and/or auto repair activities continued at the property until the Site was vacated in 2018. Additionally, three gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) were historically present to the west of the building along West 23rd Street, and an approximately 250-gallon aboveground storage tank (AST) located on the east side of the building, which is suspected to contain used motor oil.

The Site requires removal of the AST as a part of the remedial action.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for the 2301 North Market Street Site on December 23, 2021. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov
