Final Plan of Remedial Action for 320 & 340 S Market St. Site (DE-1761)

Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances

Published: Oct. 24, 2021

The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the 320 & 340 S Market St. Site located in Wilmington. The Site historically contained storage buildings which included an “anhydrous plant” building, a coal shed, and “aqua ammonia” tanks. The site also contained a filling station with several USTs, an oil storage building, and several ASTs. Finally, a car wash building operated on the site.

The site will be required to implement and maintain a cap. The site will also be subject to an environmental covenant which will place limitations on groundwater withdrawal and land disturbing activities. It will also require compliance with a CMMP and LTS Plan.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for the 320 & 340 S Market St. Site on September 26, 2021. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan are available online at: www.nav.dnrec.delaware.gov/DEN3/
