Final Plan of Remedial Action for 532-540 Old Barksdale Road (DE-1747)

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) – Remediation Section (RS) has adopted a plan to address the 532-540 Old Barksdale Road Site (DE-1747) located at 532-540 Old Barksdale Road in Newark, Delaware. The site is approximately 1.27 acres in size and contains New Castle County tax parcels 1802500134, 1802500135, 1802500347. Prospective use of the Site is anticipated to be development of a residential complex consisting of one 5-story apartment building.

The 532-540 Old Barksdale Road Site will be subject to the following remedial actions:

  • Recording of an Environmental Covenant (EC) that restricts groundwater withdrawal for consumptive use
  • Development and compliance with a Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP)
  • Request for a Certification of Completion of Remedy (COCR)

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for the 532-540 Old Barksdale Road Site on October 12, 2022. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Proposed Plan are available at the office of DNREC-RS online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov/
