Final Plan of Remedial Action for 900 S Heald Street Site (DE-1760)

Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances

Published: May 18, 2022

The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the 900 S Heald Street Site (DE- 1760) located at 900 S Heald Street in Wilmington, Delaware. Historically, the Site was utilized for various operations including a construction yard, automobile towing facility, a tire outlet, and a transportation company/bus yard since the late 1940s. Five underground storage tanks (USTs) were reported as being removed from the Site in 2007 and one UST was removed in 1980.

The Site will be subject to the following remedial actions: development and compliance with a Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP); and recording of an Environmental Covenant restricting groundwater withdrawal.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for the 900 S Heald Street Site on April 17, 2022. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov/
