Final Plan of Remedial Action for Interstate Brands Corporation Site (DE-1774)

Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances

Published: July 17, 2022

The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the Interstate Brands Corporation Site (DE-1774) located at 3001 Bowers Street in Wilmington, Delaware.

Historically, the Site was utilized for various operations including transfer warehouse, office building, private garage, and storage for used cars, auto parts, and other materials. Three (3) underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed from the Site in 2003. Hydraulic lifts were used inside the garage portion of the building.

The Site will be subject to the following remedial actions: recovery and proper disposal of all oil/oily water associated with in-floor hydraulic lift/lift pit, and proper abandonment or removal of lift mechanisms; delineation and removal of PAH impacted soil at an identified hotspot; and abatement, handling, and disposal of any asbestos or lead based paint containing materials in compliance with their respective federal and state codes and regulations.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for the Interstate Brands Corporation Site on June 19, 2022. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov
