Final Plan of Remedial Action for Operable Unit 1 of the SIP Property Site (DE-1408)

Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances

Published: Jan. 9, 2022

The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of Operable Unit 1 of the Site located in Wilmington. Historically, the Site was used as part of shipbuilding operations. OU-1 of the Site is currently largely wooded but the southeastern corner was cleared and has a building and parking lot on it.

Remedial actions required to be taken at OU-1 of the Site include: placement of a cap consisting of impervious material, such as asphalt or concrete, or at least one feet of DNREC-approved fill material, the recording of an Environmental Covenant with the property deed that restricts property use to non-residential and required compliance with the site-specific Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP) and Long-Term Stewardship (LTS) Plan.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for Operable Unit 1 of the SIP Property Site on December 5, 2021. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov
