The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the Operable Unit 2 (OU-2) and Operable Unit 4 (OU-4) of the SIP Property Site [“Site”] located in Wilmington. Historically, the Site was used as part of shipbuilding operations. Placement of a cap atop Site soils within OU-2 and placement of a vapor mitigation system beneath any newly-constructed buildings within an identified area of concern, restrictions on property use to non-residential and on groundwater use, and continued compliance with the site-specific Contaminated Materials Management Plan and Long-Term Stewardship Plan will mitigate exposure to site soils and groundwater by future Site users.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for OU-2 and OU-4 of the SIP Property Site on February 23, 2022. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov
