The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), Division of Climate, Coastal, and Energy will conduct a public hearing on September 15, 2022, beginning at 1:00 p.m. to consider comments from the public (Docket# 2022-WAP-0009).

As the Federal regulations require DNREC to provide the opportunity for the public to comment on any new weatherization grants, notice is hereby given that DNREC-CCE is applying for U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) BIL funds. The mission of WAP is to reduce energy waste and consumption in the homes of low-income Delawareans, creating healthier and more comfortable homes while reducing energy bill burden. This new application continues the work outlined in DNREC’s Weatherization Program with additional federal initiatives required in the 2022 BIL grant application.

On October 1, 2022, or upon DOE plan review and approval these funds will be appropriated by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Public Law 117-58, also referred to as the BIL. Under the BIL, the Delaware Weatherization Assistance Program has been allocated $10,189,866. Once the allocations are made available to the states, a revised State Plan may be submitted to the Department of Energy.

For additional information on the above matter and to review this application, visit de.gov/dnrechearings or contact Karen Forrest, Division of Climate, Coastal and Energy, Energy Section – Weatherization Assistance Program, 100 W. Water Street, Suite 10B, Dover, DE 19904, by phone at (302) 735-3360, or by email at Karen.Forrest@delaware.gov.
