Notification of Extension of The Public Comment Period for a Proposed Plan of Remedial Action for the Barbara Hicks Park Site, Wilmington, Delaware (DE-1804)

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control – Remediation Section (“DNREC-RS”) invited public comment for a Proposed Plan of Remedial Action (PPRA) on Sunday, February 12, 2023. The notice was set to conclude on March 6, 2023. After members of the public asked for more time to review the PPRA, the DNREC-RS is extending the public comment period for an additional 30 days to April 7, 2023. The Proposed Plan of Remedial Action (Proposed Plan) summarizes the clean-up (remedial) actions that are being proposed to address contamination found at the Site for public comment.

The Barbara Hicks Park Site is located at 410-420 Bradford Street in Wilmington, Delaware, and consists of eight tax parcels: 26-058.00-002, 26-058.00-006, 26-058.00-009, 26- 058.00-003, 26-058.00-004, 26-058.00-005, 26-058.00-007 and 26-058.00-008. The site is a community park and recreational space surrounded by residential and commercial buildings. For more information, please see DNREC’s navigator at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov/.

The original public comment period was due to expire at close of business on March 6, 2023. The new comment period has been extended for an additional 30 days and will start on Sunday, March 5, 2023, and will end at the close of business on Friday, April 7, 2023. Pursuant to Del C. Ch. 9112, the public may also request a public hearing regarding this Proposed Plan.
