Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances

Comments Due: Jan. 30, 2023

The Department invites public comment on a proposal to clean-up the Berkshire Property Site (DE-1772) located at 3609 South State Street in Camden Wyoming. The Site consists of a vacant residence and a barn. The remainder of the Site contains agricultural fields and undeveloped woods. Historically, the Site has operated as orchards and agricultural land.

The remediation will be performed by a combination of soil blending and excavation to achieve residential cleanup concentrations for arsenic at the Site. Additionally, the onsite aboveground and underground storage tanks will be removed. The Proposed Plan requires a submittal of a Remedial Action Work Plan and Contaminated Materials Management Plan for DNREC-RS approval and implementation. The site groundwater use will be restricted via recording of an Environmental Covenant.

Details of the Proposed Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov/

The comment period ends on January 30, 2023. For additional information, please contact Mariya Chiger, Project Manager at (302) 395-2600 or via email at RS_Public_Comments@delaware.gov.
