The Department invites public comment on a proposal to clean-up the Interstate Brands Corporation Site (DE-1774) located at 3001 Bowers Street in Wilmington, Delaware. Historically, the Site was utilized for various operations including transfer warehouse, office building, private garage, and storage for used cars, auto parts, and other materials. Three (3) underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed from the Site in 2003. Hydraulic lifts were used inside the garage portion of the building.

The Site will be subject to the following remedial actions: recovery and proper disposal of all oil/oily water associated with in-floor hydraulic lift/lift pit, and proper abandonment or removal of lift mechanisms; delineation and removal of PAH impacted soil at an identified hotspot; and abatement, handling, and disposal of any asbestos or lead based paint containing materials in compliance with their respective federal and state codes and regulations.

Details of the Proposed Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov

The comment period ends on July 11, 2022. For additional information, please contact Kevin Popowich, the DNREC Project Manager at (302) 395-2600 or via email at RS_Public_Comments@delaware.gov.
