The Department invites public comment on a proposal to clean-up the Amtrak Maintenance Facility, Operable Unit 1 (OU-1) located at 4001 Vandever Avenue in Wilmington. The Site includes approximately 52 acres of the Amtrak Wilmington Maintenance Shops. Petroleum compounds, PCBs and chlorinated solvents were detected in site soils, sediments and/or groundwater at concentrations exceeding applicable risk thresholds. A Final Plan of Remedial Action was issued for the adjacent Amtrak Former Fueling Facility (DE-0266) in August 2020. Remedial Activities required by DNREC and EPA for both the Maintenance Facility and Former Fueling Facility sites will be designed and conducted concurrently.

Details of the Proposed Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov/
