Public Hearing: Artesian Water Allocation Permit Modification

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), Division of Water will conduct a virtual public hearing (Docket #2020-P-W-0030) regarding a Water Allocation permit modification application submitted by Artesian Water Company (AWC) regarding its Chesapeake City Road well field located South of Bear in New Castle County, on Chesapeake City Road, and East of Frazer Road in New Castle County, Delaware.

Artesian is requesting a modification of its existing Public Water Allocation permit and is proposing to replace well 3R with a new well to their existing allocation for this well field. Artesian is not requesting an increase of capacity from the four wells of this allocation permit. The capacities from these wells will remain the same as currently permitted 3,492,000 gallons per day, 104,760,000 gallons per month and 1,095,000,000 gallons per year.

The virtual public hearing will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2021, beginning at 6 p.m. The web link to the virtual meeting is found on the DNREC Public Hearings site at de.gov/dnrechearings. Those wishing to offer verbal comments during DNREC virtual public hearings must pre-register no later than noon on the date of the virtual hearing at de.gov/dnreccomments or by telephone at 302-739-9295.

The Department will accept public comment through the close of business on Friday, March 26, 2021.
