Public Information Meeting on Request for a Distribution and Marketing Permit – Turf Care Supply Corporation

Division of Water

Published: May 8, 2022

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Surface Water Discharges Section (DNREC-SWDS) will conduct a virtual public information meeting on Turf Care Supply Corporation’s (Turf Care) permit application for a distribution and marketing (DM) permit for heat dried Class A/Exceptional Quality (EQ) biosolids products. The EQ biosolids in the fertilizer products proposed for distribution by Turf Care in the State of Delaware are generated at the Massachusetts Water Resourses Authority’s (MWRA) Deer Island Treatment Plant (DITP) and processed to meet Federal and State Class A/EQ standards at the New England Fertilizer Company (NEFCO) heat drying facility. Both DITP and NEFCO are located near Boston, Massachusetts. Upon permit issuance, the distribution and marketing permit would allow Turf Care to distribute and market the aforementioned Class A/EQ biosolids within the State of Delaware under a DM permit for utilization on lawns, agricultural land, in fertilizers, or other uses as approved by DNREC.

The purpose of the virtual public meeting is to provide interested members of the public with an opportunity to better understand and ask questions related to the applicant’s permit application. The virtual public meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, beginning at 6:00 PM.

For additional information on the above matter, to review the permit application, and for a link to connect to the virtual public information meeting, please contact Brian Churchill, Division of Water, Surface Water Discharges Section, by phone at (302) 632-2975, or by email at Brian.Churchill@delaware.gov.
