Water Allocation Permit Applications

Wheatley Farms, Inc. has requested an allocation permit for one proposed irrigation well. The maximum daily withdrawal is 936,000 gallons per day. The well will be located east of Bridgeville in Sussex County, near the intersection of Wilson Hill Road and Seashore Highway. Tax parcel 231-6.00-16.00.

Park Brown, LLC has requested an allocation permit for one existing irrigation well and two proposed irrigation wells. The maximum daily withdrawal is 432,000 gallons per day. The wells will be located northwest of Harrington in Kent County, near the intersection of Park Brown and Pine Pitch Roads. Tax parcel MN-00-159.00-01-48.00.

Newberg Farms, LLC has requested an allocation permit for one proposed irrigation well. The maximum daily withdrawal is 720,000 gallons per day. The well will be located east of Smyrna in Kent County, near the intersection of Big Oak and Woodland Beach Roads. Tax parcel DC-00-011.00-01-22.00.

New Castle County Government has requested an allocation permit for one existing irrigation well. The maximum daily withdrawal is 720,000 gallons per day. The well is located north of Middletown in New Castle County, near the intersection of Cedar Lane and Marl Pit Roads. Tax parcel 1301700040.

Merrill Parker has requested an allocation permit for one proposed irrigation well. The maximum daily withdrawal is 216,000 gallons per day. The well will be located west of Millsboro in Sussex County, near the intersection of Racoons Point and Lakeview Road. Tax parcel 133-15.00-19.00.

Tidewater Utilities, Inc. (Broadkill Beach) has applied for a modification of its public water allocation serving approximately 2,000 residential and 1,000 transient people in Sussex County.  The application includes three existing public wells.  The requested allocation is 0.239 million gallons (MG) per day, 5.359 MG per month, and 33.393 MG per year.

A public hearing on the above applications will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC determines that a public hearing is in the public interest or if a written meritorious objection to the application is received by February 1, 2021, at 4:30 p.m.  A public hearing request shall be deemed meritorious if it exhibits a familiarity with the application and provides a reasoned statement of the action’s probable impact.
