Amended Final Plan of Remedial Action for the Cathedral of St. John Site

Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances

Start Date: 4/3/2019

End Date: 4/25/2019

The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the Cathedral of St. John site (DE-1602) located in Wilmington. The Site was impacted by historic fill, remnants of a coal fired furnace, abandoned underground heating oil tanks and demolition debris required capping, sealing of the basement walls, periodic indoor air sampling to determine if a vapor intrusion mitigation system is needed, and the removal of asbestos containing material.

DNREC issued public notice of the Amended Proposed Plan for the Cathedral of St. John Site on February 24, 2019.  There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Amended Proposed Plan.  Details of the Amended Final Plan are available at the office of DNREC-SIRS (391 Lukens Drive, New Castle, DE, 19720) or online at:
