Agricultural Utilization Permit – Request for Renewal – McMullen Septic Service, Inc.

Division of Water
Start Date: September 29, 2019
End Date: October 30, 2019

McMullen Septic Service, Inc. of Seaford Delaware has requested renewal of their existing agricultural utilization permit, State Permit Number AGU 1407-S-05.  The current permit authorizes the surface application of limited quantities of grease trap waste at agronomic rates onto a portion of the Jack McMullen Farm total approximately 6 acres of farmland.  This AGU permit does not authorize the application of grease trap waste that contains sanitary wastewater.  The grease trap waste is required to undergo periodic analysis for a list of specific parameters including nutrient content.  Nutrient content limits the application volume onto permitted farms.  Grease trap waste will be delivered to the land application sites in accordance with Delaware Waste Transporters Permit Number WH-050 and does not contain sanitary wastewater.

Part V of the Department’s Guidance and Regulations Governing the Land Treatment of Wastes allows for such activity pending public notice.

A public hearing on the above application will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC determines that a public hearing is in the public interest or if a written meritorious objection to the application is received by 4:30 p.m. October 30, 2019.  A public hearing request shall be deemed meritorious if it exhibits a familiarity with the application and provides a reasoned statement of the action’s probable impact.
