Wastewater Facilities Construction Permit Application: Dogfish Head Craft Brewery

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Division of Water, hereby gives notice that a permit application for the construction of wastewater conveyance has been received concerning the following:

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery is proposing to improve their wastewater treatment facility located at 6 Canary Village Center in Milton, Delaware.  The facility land applies treated wastewater from the brewery processes.  The proposed improvements include adding a discharge storage tank, aerobic and anoxic biological reactors, chemical dosing equipment, electrical equipment modifications and upgraded membranes.  The proposed improvements are going to make the treated wastewater cleaner and increase the maximum amount of wastewater processed at the facility from 90,000 gallons per day to 142,000 gallons per day.  The daily amount of wastewater being land applied is not going to increase as a result of this project.

A public hearing concerning the above application will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC determines that a hearing is in the public interest or if a written meritorious request for a hearing is received on or before March 29, 2020. A request for a public hearing shall be deemed meritorious if it exhibits a familiarity with the application and provides a reasoned statement of the permit’s probable impact.
