Water Allocation Permit Applications

Salt Pond Associates, LLC has requested an allocation permit modification for three existing irrigation wells and one existing public well. The maximum daily withdrawal is 1,120,000 gallons per day. The wells are located northeast of Bethany Beach in Sussex County, near the intersection of Bethany Loop and Walkabout Road. Tax parcel 134-13.00-88.09.

Pictsweet Company has requested a renewal of its industrial water allocation for three existing irrigation wells. The maximum daily withdrawal is 1,000,000 gallons per day. The wells are located west of Bridgeville in Sussex County, near the intersection of Federalsburg and Wesley Church Roads. Tax parcel 131-10.00-72.00.

The Town of Clayton has applied for a renewal of its public water allocation which serves approximately 3,500 people in Kent County.  The application includes four existing public wells. The requested allocation is 0.7 million gallons (MG) per day, 19.0 MG per month, and 230.0 MG per year.

Artesian Water Company, Inc. has applied for a modification of its Fairwinds public water allocation which is connected to a larger system serving approximately 209,000 people in New Castle County.  The application includes four existing public wells and one proposed public well. The requested allocation is 2.0 MG per day, 60.0 MG per month, and 720.0 MG per year.

Richard Carmine, Jr. has requested an allocation permit for one proposed irrigation well. The maximum daily withdrawal is 828,000 gallons per day. The well is located east of Laurel in Sussex County, near the intersection of Johnson and Beaver Dam Branch Roads. Tax parcel 232-14.00-6.00.

A public hearing on the above applications will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC determines that a public hearing is in the public interest or if a written meritorious objection to the application is received by September 9, 2019, at 4:30 p.m.  A public hearing request shall be deemed meritorious if it exhibits a familiarity with the application and provides a reasoned statement of the action’s probable impact.
