Boiler Safety Reviews



Delaware’s Boiler Safety Program is recognized by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors, and by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), to conduct boiler safety reviews.

National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors Repair Certification

Delaware’s Boiler Safety Program is recognized by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors to conduct Joint Reviews for National Board Repair Certification (“R Certification”) for repairs and/or alterations of boilers and pressure vessels. Joint Reviews may also be conducted by the National Board itself. Application for Repair Certification must be made through the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors, Columbus.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)

Delaware’s Boiler Safety Program is recognized by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) to conduct Joint Reviews for the New Construction of boilers, pressure vessels and nuclear installations. Joint Reviews may also be conducted by the ASME or the National Board. Application for the ASME new and renewal certification must be made through the ASME website.

Review Costs

The following charges apply to reviews performed by the State of Delaware.

  • National Board “R” Certification – $800
  • ASME Review – $1,500
  • Combined NB and ASME Reviews – $1,500
