Learn the multiple sources of flood risks to Delaware communities and how they can be addressed and mitigated.
The course, presented in partnership with the University of Delaware Institute for Public Administration, covers basic risk and hazard concepts, FEMA mapping, the Delaware flood insurance program, tools and strategies to prevent these hazards in a cost-effective manner, and recommended strategies for reducing exposure.
Examples will include:
This session qualifies for certificate credit in the Academy for Excellence in Local Government Leadership, and the Delaware Planning Education Program. It also offers American Planning Association AICP credit hours and Certified Floodplain Manager continuing education credits.
