A Federal Consistency Certification has been submitted to the Delaware Coastal Management Program for the following: Chesapeake Utilities North Ocean City Connector NWP 12 (2022.0018)

Chesapeake Utilities has applied for a United States Army Corps of Engineers Nationwide Permit 12 and is proposing to construct, own, operate, and maintain approximately 5.5 miles of 8-inch diameter buried natural gas main, in the Selbyville and Fenwick Island areas of Sussex County, Delaware. The proposed gas main would commence near the intersection of Bayard Road and Zion Church Road and extend southeast along Zion Church Road and Lighthouse Road, terminating at a point near the intersection of Lighthouse Road and Coastal Highway, in Fenwick Island. The gas main would generally be located within road rights-of-way. The proposed gas main would cross one tidal waterbody, referred to as “The Ditch.” The gas main is proposed to be installed beneath The Ditch using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) construction methods.
