Final Plan of Remedial Action for 16519 South Dupont Highway Site (DE-1768)

Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances

Published: June 19, 2022

The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the 16519 South Dupont Highway Site located in Harrington. The Site operated as a filling station, an automotive parts store and used car/truck lot. The Site’s remedial actions will include the recording of an environmental covenant which will place limitations on groundwater withdrawal and the disturbance of the building slab. A Contaminated Materials Management Plan will be prepared to provide guidance to safely handle any potentially impacted groundwater and detail the asbestos containing materials abatement program to be followed. Finally, a Long-term Stewardship Plan will be prepared to ensure the integrity of the remedy is maintained.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for the 16519 South Dupont Highway Site on May 22, 2022. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov
