Final Plan of Remedial Action for the 815 South Market Street Site (DE-1767)

Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances

Published: Jan. 8, 2023

The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the 815 South Market Street Site [“Site”] located in Wilmington. The Site has had various commercial uses including an auto salvage yard and operations conducted by construction contractors.

An interim action soil removal was performed on a small portion of the Site in accordance with a DNREC-approved work plan, and additional requirements for the Site include: development of a Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP), and the recording of an Environmental Covenant that restricts site use to non-residential and restricts groundwater withdrawal from beneath the Site, and requires compliance with the DNREC-approved CMMP.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan of Remedial Action (Proposed Plan) for the 815 South Market Street Site on December 4, 2022. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan of Remedial Action are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov
