The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of Operable Unit 1 (OU-1) of the Former Thoro-Kleen Dry Cleaners Site located in Georgetown. The Site was once used as a dry cleaner and laundry. The remedial actions required for the Site OU-1 include surface soil containment, a passive soil vapor extraction system with targeted hot spot soil removal, groundwater treatment, an environmental covenant placed on the deed restricting the use of the property, and a Long-Term Stewardship (LTS) Plan for the Site.

DNREC issued public notice of the Proposed Plan for the Former Thoro-Kleen Dry Cleaners Site OU-1 on November 4, 2020. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan may be reviewed upon request. This notice is posted online at: www.nav.dnrec.delaware.gov/DEN3/
