Notice of Public Hearing on DNREC Weatherization Assistance Program 2023 Grant Application

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), Division of Energy and Climate, is applying for U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) new 2023 program funds. The mission of WAP is to reduce energy loss and consumption in the homes of low income Delawareans, creating healthier and more comfortable homes while reducing energy bills.

This new application continues the work outlined in DNREC’s previous Weatherization Program State Plans. The new 2023 grant application requests approval to use $833,863.00 of new federal FY 2023 funds.

The virtual public hearing will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The web link to the virtual hearing can be accessed through the DNREC Public Hearings site at de.gov/dnrechearings. Those wishing to offer verbal comments during DNREC virtual public hearings must pre-register no later than noon on the date of the virtual hearing at de.gov/dnreccomments or by telephone at 302-739-9925.

The Department will also accept public comments through the close of business on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Comments pertaining to the above matter will be accepted in written form via email to DNRECHearingComments@delaware.gov, or by using the online form at de.gov/dnreccomments, or by U.S. mail to the following address:
