The Department invites public comment on a proposal to cleanup Operable Units (OUs) –43, 44, and 45 of the Hamilton Park/Pyles Lane Site, three properties located within a residential neighborhood in New Castle. The properties are approximately, 0.18 acres, 0.11 acres, and 0.15 acres in size, respectively. Fill material placed before the houses were constructed, as well as remnants of a former foundry operation previously located in the rear of the neighborhood, are the likely sources of elevated metals detected within the top 0 to 2 feet below ground surface (bgs) throughout the Site. The OU-43, OU-44, and OU-44 properties will be subject to the following remedial action: removal of soil within the top two feet in select areas within each OU.
