Wastewater Facilities Construction Permit Application: Sussex County

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Division of Water, hereby gives notice that a permit application for the construction of wastewater conveyance has been received concerning the following:

Sussex County proposes to install forty-one (41) single family low pressure sanitary sewer grinder pump stations, approximately eight thousand four hundred linear feet (8,400 LF) of small diameter (under 3 inches) force main, ten (10) flushing manholes and related appurtenances to serve the existing Mallard Creek subdivision located on the west side of Irons Lane approximately 0.6 miles north of Holts Landing Road, north of Clarksville in Sussex County, Delaware. The homes in Mallard Creek currently utilize individual lot on-site wastewater disposal systems. The proposed force main will discharge to an existing terminal cleanout, which is upstream from an existing gravity sanitary sewer manhole on Seagrass Plantation Lane in the Seagrass Plantation subdivision.

A public hearing concerning the above application will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC determines that a hearing is in the public interest or if a written meritorious request for a hearing is received on or before March 2, 2022. A request for a public hearing shall be deemed meritorious if it exhibits a familiarity with the application and provides a reasoned statement of the permit’s probable impact.
